This is the story of a girl who wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She had it rough but put herself together no matter how many times life shattered her. Maybe she got used to being abandoned.
Ever since her childhood, she was reserved, shy, polite and obedient kid. She never demanded any fancy things. No toys, no cosmetics nor clothes or shoes. She felt shy to want things from others.
Seeing how her mom and sister always kept in shopping, she thought if she began to want things too, it will be a pressure for her father. So, she kept waiting, waiting for the day when her father would earn more money.
Days went by and years changed. She remained the same, never wanting anything. She even couldn’t ask for money for her college fees. Months after, a warning letter would be sent to her home and that reminded her parents to pay off the fees. She never bought an Eid dress for last 10 years. Thinking that she was making things easier for her parents.
But today, thinking about how badly she needs some money for daily expenses at her university, she subconsciously compares her conditions to her sister. She was never treated the same as her sister. Her sister was allowed to spend thousands of money, whereas she was given 500 Tk for 2 weeks. Within this money, she had to take three meals a day, buy necessary commodities and transport expenses. Most of the time, she would skip the lunch to save money. She could only manage to continue a tuition that paid her less because she was in need. She still continued her studies in order to chase her dreams. Unfortunately, she was raped by her boyfriend when she was 22 and that guy abandoned her saying she had sexual relationships with too many men and that she was dirty. She was all alone, broken, helpless and hopeless. When she found that she was pregnant, she couldn’t allow herself to abort that child even when her parents kicked her out of their family. She took part time jobs, and continued her studies.
Giving birth to a beautiful baby girl and getting a degree were two of the most beautiful things that happened to her. She pushed herself to work harder starting at an NGO.
Years went by and at one time, she opened her own restaurant. Her girl is already 8 years old and already acing at her academics. The mother is so proud of her and she has never let her face the obstacles the she had faced when she was younger. She was a single mother, an entrepreneur and a successful woman.
Maybe she had it rough but she believes that all those only made her stronger since she had learnt to stand alone. Today, she’s a successful businesswoman, already an inspiring role model for countless woman who have grown up in an disturbing environment. Sometimes, she feels that, it was all part of God’s plan to make her suffer to push her beyond her boundaries and create a life that everyone envies.
Maybe it is how universe works. You never know what’s waiting for you at the end of the hardship. So get up, work hard, earn your own money, live your life and help others. That’s the sole purpose of life.
